Can I run the oil line to the turbo off the port in the top corner of the head or will that starve the cams and lifters on my G13B ? There are two ports above the oil filter . One has the pressure sending unit and the other looks to be a 1/4 pipe thread. Are both of these filtered or is one straight from the oil pump?

Oil supply on T3s comes directly from oil pump port but i suppose you could use one next to oil pressure sending unit . They are all in the main oil galley

I'm using the one the pressure switch hooks up to. Bought an adapter on ebay so I can still use the pressure switch. There shouldbe a couple of pics in my album.
Also the thread is a 1/8 bspt.
I do have two friends whose oil feed comes from corner of the head.

Mine comes from the corner of the head and I'm confident it's a suitable place to tie into.

I think that I'm going to put my oil pressure sending unit up in the corner of the head and put a 90 degree elbow out the original port so I can just run a short hose up to the turbo. I'm really close tolerances down there because I'm keeping the A/C.

ken, i'm just tossing this onto the ring for your consideration.

to gain some breathing room on the front side of the engine which can become pretty busy with the addition of a turbo, especially with air conditioning involved, there are parts available to move the oil filter away from the heat of the turbo body. the divorced or remote oil filter kits include an adapter that mounts at the oil filter location on the engine with hoses that lead to a second adapter which accepts an oil filter. generally, the remote filter mount includes new ports that can be used to mount pressure and temperature sensors. when you move the oil filter and sensors away from the direct path of radiated heat from the super hot turbo body, temperature induced inaccuracies are reduced.

the remote oil filter systems are also very easily adapted to oil cooling systems as well. with the addition of a good oil cooler to a remote oil filter you increase the amount of oil in the system which is a boon to controlling and shedding heat from the inclusion of a turbo.

i doubled the amount of oil in my blue monster turbo3's system with a remote oil filter/ cooler which made the operating temperature of the engine much easier to control.

another choice i made was to use and electrical oil pressure gauge where the pressure sensor converted the measurement to an electrical which kept the actual oil in the engine bay and only required a couple of wires fed through the firewall using the factory wiring harness gromett. same with the manifold absolute pressure signal for the vacuum/ boost gauge. using the electrical gauges keeps the potentially hazardous materials out of the cabin eliminating the potential for spraying 300 degree oil on your crotch in the case of a plumbing failure.

for turbo oil feed i used the bigger thread (1/4" i think) next to stock oil pressure sensor and moved the stock sensor to the hole under the engine mount.

i have a remote oil filter as well (with my custom headers only option), it has suitable ports for turbo feed, but these are BEFORE the filter, so i did not use them for turbo supply, i have oil temp a press sensors there.

I use the port in the top left (looking back from the front of car) of the engine without any problems. I have a restrictor in line as the full pressure from this port is higher than needed.

How big of restrictor did you use ? I made one that is about 84 thousandths And it starts puffing smoke out real bad if I let it idle for 10 minutes or so. I have a journal bearing t25 Chinese turbo.

I'm using a .045 restrictor on a TD04 turbo.

Is a TD04 a journal or ball bearing turbo ?

Thanks Richard , that's good to know. When I do the turbo vert I'll put a smaller restrictor in it. I think it's giving me too much oil.
