We're having a new top put on our '93 vert and that info is perfect to give to our installer. Thanks much!

Hi Bill,

I realize your post is several years old and I've no doubt you've figured it out. But for any other folk asking the same question...

When I bought my 91 vert I saw a great video clip on youtube, demonstrating how to put the roof down and back up. It was very helpful.
Try this link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6ZMKaS-Z04

One thing they don't mention though, is a caution for when you're going to put the roof back up, be careful when swinging the wing covers in. Hold them up, away from the lowered roof so you do not tear the roof's weather stripping. I did that, my first time, and managed to use contact cement to repair it. Very lucky!

Enjoy!

in my critique of the video i will add:

1. open your doors and roll down both side windows first before opening or closing the top. opening the doors before rolling the windows up or down saves wear and tear on the seals. opening or closing the top with the windows rolled up and the doors closed is terrible on the seals.

2. if your velcro fasteners have lost their hooks and won't secure the fabric flaps on the front of the wings, just let the movement of the wings take the flaps under and leave them there. it's way better than letting them flap around in the wind.

3. never slam anything, trying to get it to latch. don't slam the center piece of the tonneau cover or it will knock it out of adjustment (which causes you to have to slam the cover even harder to get it to latch - just like the guy in the video demonstrates.) if you slam the header panel into the catches at the top of the windshield you will find yourself spending $100 when you break them.

and, this is important for you to hear, when the top shrinks to the point that it becomes hard to close with one hand, get a new top on order and replace the rag. all sorts of bad things start happening, the frame bends itself out of adjustment, the latch catches break, the rear window rips........save yourself the aggravation and money, just buy the new top.
