Hey all,

Recently I parked my Sprint for 15 minutes and came out to no radio!

Not a HUGE deal except for the fact they also killed the dash lights in the process.

I found the wires in a bundle, some cut, some hanging around. After some research, I found there's a ground wire behind the ash tray - currently it's not connected to anything. Just to the ash tray and then a connector hanging. Picture attached.

My question is - is that whats stopping the dash from working? If so, where the hell is it supposed to go?

That sucks. The wiring diagram link below from Lihtan should help you. (its a large scan PNG image so you may need to scroll and zoom to view the wiring area of interest.) During cleanup of the radio wires, you should tape off any hot +12V wires until you ready to replace your radio so that they don't short and blow the fuse again.

The radio has a separate black wire ground, so it should not affect your dash lights. The Red wire with yellow stripe is the power for the radio lighting shared with your dash lights. Check the fuse first if all dash lights are out. Also the dimmer knob may have been twirled to an off position by those pesky radio thieves! :evil:

i think that the connector with the black wire is the ground for the cigarette lighter. :wink:

Follow up - thanks guys!

I opened up my fuse panel and found this - I'm guessing it's related. Anyone know where it goes?

Rheostat for dimmer and no - that's actually plugged in. First thing I checked.

If you look at the wiring diagram in the link posted earlier you will see that unused connector is for an optional back door switch opener release you do not have.
