IF there is another spot I should put this pls let me know. I had to get a van for work and left my Swift sitting for a month. Now, I tried to move it and it went straight into gear with the clutch down. Aftermarket Clutch only a year/half old. Replaced timing chain same time. Was working fine. I'm baffled. I don't think it's hydraulic. I want to sell the car but I'll get nothing for it like that. 16 Valve DOHC runs great. I have no $ to fix this car with. Anybody have that happen or no a place I could sell it as is?

Do you mean the car moved forward in first gear even with the clutch pedal fully depressed?

If so, probably the clutch cable snapped somewhere along its length. Usually it snaps where the cable passes through a grommet in the firewall, or at the top of the clutch pedal arm. A new cable is about $30 and this a common Swift problem. You can confirm that it is the cable by looking under the dash whether the cable hooks onto the clutch pedal, or by lifting the hood and seeing whether the clutch lever arm on the top of the transmission with the clutch cable attached to it is frozen, or if it can still move back and forth.

If you still want to sell it (fixed or unfixed), post in the Classified for Sale - Cars section. Most people on this site would consider buying Swifts in any condition.

i have had some pretty new clutches rust to the flywheel along with the pilot bearings locking up. some i could free up by accelerating and braking as hard as i could and others i have had to beat free with a hammer.

you should hope that it's as simple as a broken clutch cable.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to sell it "As Is" can't move it. Ad is in classified section. It's sitting a river rock carport, can't jack it up there and drive way is a slope. Just bad luck I guess

Can you post pics of the car and engine compartment and interior? Does the car run? What else is wrong with it? Do you have a clear title?

I have had success by just starting the car in gear the jolt can be enough to free the clutch from the flywheel
