I'm building a 97 1.3 SOHC metro motor (6 months after taking it apart) and the pistons are sticking out of the block .025 to .030'. Does that seem right. I had to use a different crank and don't remember them sticking out that far.

i have seen some rebuilds that had the pistons popped above the block deck.

remember that the head gasket will put the head higher - by the compressed gasket's thickness. i have read a post where various manufacture head gaskets were measured and listed by compressed thickness.

as long as you make sure that the piston assembly's throw plus stretch doesn't crash the piston into the head you will be okay.
