I am trying to find a semi slick tyre for hill climb. My swift is lowered 40mm and with Koni Shocks. Presently i am running on 185/50 15 and with the fenders lipped. It still rubbs at the back. Now i am trying to find 185/45 15 semi slick and i cant find anywhere. Any ideas?

I think I may have gotten the wrong new tire size...well, bought them before I found this 3.52 trans. Anyway, what was the OEM tire size for a swift with the 3.52 gearing? The XFi OEM tire size?

A Swift with the 3.52 came with 155/70-13 tires. I think the XFi was 145/80-12.

Aw man! I guess it was the newer ones that had 155/80R13...? I went and bought all new 175/65R14 because they were the closest i could get. With the tire number you just gave me, I'll be about 6% off on the speedo! And i can only imagine what the 3.52 gearing will equate to now....
Well, in my defense, I did buy the tires before I found this trans. Yet, even if i was going to put the previous XFi trans, that still doesn't explain why i was comparing to the 13" tires....wth was i thinking?! Doesn't look like anyone lists a 175/55R14 tire either....

I'm running at 185/55R14 now, but does 195/45R14 fit on the stock GTI 5J rims without problems?

Here are pics of the 195x50x15s that I use on my 3 banger Geo. I have the stock suspension and have removed 100 lbs from the car. The only MINOR rubbing I have is when I am carrying 400 lbs of tires with rims (2 full sets) in vary undulating county roads. The right rear barely gets scratches on the outer sidewall...no steering rub at all

195 on 9,5J (13inches gotti) too much...made a handbrake turn and all air was out of the tire

I just got a line on a set 16 X 7 wheels with 205/45/16 tires. Will they fit on a 91 Metro vert?

i had bfg's,205/50/13(sprint car tires) on my 91 turbofly;sticky,sticky,but grabbed ruts in road;wife hated them.tried 16's,bfg's,195/40zr16's,looked cool,rubbed on rear n front,wife hated the ride;put 185/60/14's on,decent grip,ride-wife was happy

I just bought some 195/45ZR/15 yesterday...N3000 Nexxen. Threadwear 340, Traction AA, Temp. A. Should be good for daily driving until I decide what to put on the 14" rims for auto-x next year. I haven't put them on yet...waiting for the nitrogen!

Nitrogen, eh? Have you considered the 78% mix you can get? It's a lot cheaper and it works just as well! Ask around, it should be pretty easy to find.

i'm down with the 78% mix.

i hate it when the 78% mix gets stale.

i bleed it off and refill it often, too.

Unfortunately we don't get that 78% mix over here...whatever it is. In any event, our average temp. year round is 30degrees celsius, so no worries!

Factory Tire Size for a 1993 Swift was 145/12 correct?

I have a set of 155/80/12's on my 1993 Geo Metro Swift (came on it when I bought it)

I am looking for new 155/80/12's unless I can be told a larger 12" tire would fit which I can find easier and might be the same price or less. Someone told me a 165/70/12 would fit - any truth?

So I have come to a conclusion some time ago... In our area it is very hard to find 12 inch tires. My recommendation is to find either a Metro Vert or a 95-01 metros 13inch wheels. They make such a big a difference in handling. If you are close to a Harrys U pull it they are dirt cheap. Tire choice is much greater with sizes and tread patterns. Plus itll lift the car for the much needed clearance you will need for the massive snow fall you will definitely get this year

Ugh - harry's is one of the most expensive yards around! I really hate going to that place in Pennsburg and Allentown, the Hazelton location is so much better (and massive)

I have been trying to keep an eye and ear out for Metro wheels 12" or 13" either with good tread in the 12" or both in 13"

Any idea of harry has them in stock? lol I'm a fan of Crescent and Barbie's for local yards. The next fav. is Newringgold - but that's a bit of a haul for "local" but still close enough.

As for snow vehcile - I'll just drive the beater truck in the snow 2.2L RWD Sonoma - woo-hoo!

Newringgold is the SHIT!!!! i have been there a few times. as for harrys hazelton is good too. Both are a 3+ hour drive for me, but still worth it. Ill look around for some 12 and 13s for you. Ill let you know what i come up with

Will 15x6.5 rims with a 42mm offset on 195/50/15 tires fit ok?? I'm on stock suspension but I plan to lower my 94 swift GA with H&R springs. I've read on this thread 195/45/50's are better but I'm asking about the 50 series. Thanks in adv.

You won't get scrubbing on stock suspension but you will if you lower it, might be fine if you roll the guards, it's the extra width that is a problem more than the increase in diametre.

So I have new 12" tires to mount on today - but also picking up some 13" wheels this weekend. Now - the donor car is a 1998 "Chevy" Metro - and I am taking all of the suspension and brakes with the wheels for a future upgrade to my 1993. I am told the 12" wheels will not work with the 13" Brakes/hubs. True? Also - if I just swap on the suspension and sway bars for now - the hubs on my 93' will bolt on no problem so I can run the 12's a little more - correct?

Would anyone want to buy a set of 12" Geo wheels - new tires and straight wheels with center caps? $200? I would just want what I have in the tires for the mounted and ballanced set if I just go with the 13" route.

I have 15x7 rims with a +42 offset and 195/45 tires on them....no rubbing on the front with my camber (-1.7*) and only a very little on the rear on hard cornering or severe undulations in the road when driving. Oh, and I have put on brand new KYB struts on all corners with Jamex springs which I believe are 1.375" drop from oem ones. Hope this helps.
