I have put quite a few of the older trans into the newer ones, 98-01 4cyls seemed to have more bearing failures than the older ones for whatever reason. You do have 3.79 ratio, older 4cyls have 4.10, I've hoped to get a performance gain from the gear ratio change but to be honest I never noticed much in either fuel mileage or performance, it feels about the same despite the ratio change. So if you land up with a 3cyl trans you should be happy I'd say with the result
