I would like to know if a '94 Metro 5 speed transmission will work in a '00 Swift? If this is possible, will the '94 axels fit the '00 Swift?

Yes if it's 1.0L engine and manual trans-axle anyhow... '00 might have longer axle but directly fitting tho.

Therefore use 00' axle into 94 trans axle.

I am not 100% sure but I am sure other knows... or you can see if it's fitting or not... but better even if you search this rich-information forums.

Should plug right in, if your 00 is a four cylinder then you'll have to move the shift brace mount over:


Gear ratios will likely be different, in 00 three cylinders got 4:39, four cylinders got 3.79.
In 94 base cars got 4.10, XFIs got 3.79.

Higher ratio numbers spin the engine higher, better acceleration, lower mileage.
Lower numbers provide less acceleration, higher mileage.

Keep the speedometer drive gear with the car, it's matched up with the tire diameter.
