I know someone with an '89 or '91 5 spd connected to a g10, which came from a Pontiac firefly. I am just curious if I can take the transmission and put it into my 2000 chevy metro, which already has a 5 spd.

It will bolt up.
That trans will likely be 4:10 ratio and the '00 will be 4:39. If you aren't picky, it won't matter to much but you should make sure to use the speedo gear for the older trans in order to make speedo read properly. It will have slightly less rpm on highway and pickup with the 4:10 ratio
