OK My question is simple however all I can find on this board is people pulling 1.6L's apart and making frankenstein engines. I Want to know 1 thing, if I buy a 1.6L out of a swift GLX (with loom and ECU etc) Will it bolt up to the 1.3L 3sp auto? It's a daily drive and the extra 20kw and 40nm would certainly be a nice addition.

Not sure about your question... are you keeping the auto trans as well or are you getting the engine/gearbox/drive-shafts/etc from the 1.6?
If you change the engine+gearbox you will have to adapt the engine-mounts and shifter, adapting the 1.3 trans to the 1.6 block will be a big headache as well. I don't see the point if it's a daily drive, better getting a 1.3 twin cam; as it will be a straight swap without any mods needed.

1993 Swift Gti

the 1.3 and 1.6 has a different bellhousing bolt pattern. it will not bolt up.

1.3L Gti motor really has not much more torque, in a daily drive that's auto the extra torque is what keeps you going in traffic, the extra power of the Gti motor you wont see till what 5000RPM so it's not much use, the plan was to put a 1.6L SOHC 16v carby in it. If we got the engine + trans + driveshafts we still need to modify the engine mounts? That's a bastard.....don't want to do that....

So best drop in is the gti engine, will the gti engine bolt up to the 3sp? It's staying automatic. It's research I'm doing on behalf of the girlfriend. Her weekend car is a TME evo 6.5 so yeah the daily is staying automatic!

You're probably on your own.

If you're going swift to swift it should bolt in but like me...youre just going to have to jump in and do it. Nobody has done it yet so no write ups on it.

If i were to do it i would get the engine, Trans, front hubs, axles, radiator, motor mounts, accessories and brackets.

Why axles...I'm guessing. The 1.6 esteem and swift gti use the same spline count on the outer cv. I'm assuming the 1.6 swift does too
