more hp yes, but not as much torque. and torque is what makes you go down the road. how about this test, take a 1.0 l and turbo it (about 100 hp), i will take a 672 cdi and turbo it (about 2000 hp) and you tell me which displacement makes more power. even without forced induction bone stock it runs 720 hp. That's over 7 times more power then a "smaller turbo engine"

no matter what you do to a engine, the bigger it is the more power it will make! hence the saying no replacement for displacement. let me know if you want that dumbed down so you can understand it.

dude you do realize this is a 7 year old thread?!

Specially if you are quoting someone :P
This discussion has however always been a good one. I was thinking of building a 1.6DOHC myself but I think it's not worth it unless you want really high HP-numbers and have the cash to throw in the G16. Using internals from another engines, such as the D16 has been discussed as well, but I don't want any Honda parts in my car; otherwise I would just throw a B16 with it's gearbox in there from the start right? I mean you have to modify the mounts anyway.
But if on a budget I would always stay with the G13B... with the proper turbo and good tuning, torque shouldn't be an issue. Why the G16 anyway? you get the same at the end cuz you can't rev it like the G13B. Turbocharging the 1.3L with lower compression pistons is waaaaaaaaaaay more cost-benefit effective than buying aftermarket con-rods, studs and balancing the crank to make a revy engine out of the 1.6L. Turbocharging is more fuel efficient as well.

edit: the only reason I was inclined to the G16 in the first place was it's stronger gearbox, but that's another problem as well cuz of the lower final drive. I think the only set-up that I would really like, would be a turbocharged swift sport (1.6L DOHC with a strong gearbox and LSD 8)....stock )

i am just looking at options for doing a transplant. have not yet decided on what. i was even thinking about dropping in a supercharged 3800 from my GTP. but that is way to much work to make fit. i have always believed bigger is better but only if you can fit it in. i want something different just don't know what.

The 1.6 has way more torque then the 1.3. You can get forged rods and pistons for about 1000. Then yes big power you want head studs and main studs. Othe then that balance it and your good to go. I would dare say that the 1.6 with 10to1 compression wiuld beat the 1.3 with about 8psi dig to top of third. But that's just me. I don't care about reving crazy high. My 1.6 has done 8k multiple times but I would rather limit it to about 7500 and thriugh more boost to it.
