Is there any known distributor problems with ebay distributors? I bought a new ebay $30 distributor and its all the same but for some reason (with the check plug jumpered) I can not get the base timing to drop below 10* btdc

Ebay is not a brand, it's just a marketplace. You might get OEM parts or terrible fakes, no way to tell until you unbox them.

That looks like the wrong distributor to me. The old one has four simple lobes, the new one has a double lobe at one position. Pretty sure that double lobe is how OBD2 determines where #1 is. Probably nothing wrong with it, it's just for a different year. I'm guessing from the picture that you have a '95 G13BA, that distributor is for a '96 or '97 BA. 95 was a stand alone year when it comes to engine control.

"Ebay brand" is a fairly common figure of speech for "unknown brand" or a "Chinese brand". Usually it's obvious and people catch on quick because ebay is a huge market place for cheap Chinese rip off products.

I went ahead and swapped the old rotor into the new housing.

If anyone is looking to rebuild the distributor, this is a 93 8v

The bearing is a 6200
And the seal is a NOK 195 it also says its counter clockwise specific, or "left" with an arrow.
