I've had a terrible time trying to clear the rear bar on my 91 5-door.

But the muffler for this Gen 1 has an inboard offset inlet.

The clearance problem is SIDE clearance - need to move the exhaust OUTBOARD (!)

95+ Gen 2 has centered inlet which is the clearance I need for the rear bar.

But it looks like the Gen 2 muffler hangers are in different locations - the side with the 2 arms appears to have them closer together on the 95+. Of course it may be trivial to bend them as needed - maybe?

So I'm wondering about the inlet location on the Swift GTi muffler as used on a G13B - Is the inlet in the center AND will the mounts match the Metro's? And will the dual tailpipes clear the rear fascia which is cut out for a single tailpipe?

I also believe the 95+ Pipe should be used since I believe it also incorporates the additional offset in the jog to match the change in the muffler inlet.

Has anyone used the GTi muffler in the Gen1 Metro (89-94)?

Yes, yes and yes. The only difference between the 1.0 and GT catback is the number of tailpipes, the rest is the same. It will clear the bumper with more than enough space.

So there really isn't any point to getting the GTi muffler. Both the GTi and the 95+ Walkers are SS, available for around $60 from RockAuto, and have the $50 rebate.

However, Walker shows the GTi as having an inboard offset inlet and then there is the question if the hanger "rods" are the same between Gen 1 and 2.

I think considering both front and rear bars, just use the 95+ exhaust and that should pretty much do it.

The 95+ exhaust clears the front and rear bars perfectly.

Only 2 issues:

1) The Cat pipe has a down stream O2 bung, so you need to plug that up with an old O2 sensor or ???

2) The hangers on the muffler are pretty much all wrong. However, you can use them (one of the rubber rings slides all the way to the base of one of the muffler hanger arms. The only issue with this is the tail end of the muffler just touches the opening in the bumper of my 91 Metro. Yes, there was a tiny bit of melting, but it was so minimal, I did nothing. Yes, I know. I should have done something about it, but Close Enough.

Obviously, this is the ONLY WAY TO GO if you put bars on your Gen 2.
