Hi
I have been steadily getting 14 km per litre mileage in city and about 22 to 25 km per litre on highway driving.
Its probably a G13BA engine mpfi 4 cyl, 5 speed, 960 kg kerb weight cultus sedan ( called Maruti Esteem in my country ). I am simply in love with the rev friendly beast of an engine and recently have refurbished sagging doors, upholstery and lose door panels & carpeting etc. I had earlier shaved off and polished the inside of throttle body and installed oil catch can and an unrestrictive end can. Also had removed the factory intake and installed a mush bigger cylindrical filter from toyota qualis with a shorter intake hose. It has a complete heat shield from engine and mostly gets fresh air from behind the head lamp. I get hell lot of pick up and great drivability at rpms above 1500 but facing the low end torque issues, Its very sporty at higher end but lacks punch and crispiness at low end @ worse than my chevy spark, despite clean plugs, correct timing and clean throttle body, PCV, IAC etc. I have installed a resistance along with IAT sensor that changes sensor input to ECU to get better performance but not much help from that either. My question is how to get a good low end torque from this car. And am thinking of fabricating oxygen sensor output rating circuit using IC and LED's to get still better mileage. Can experts help please ?

amazing.... 32 views but no reply.....

I went to my garage today and asked him to clean TB, adjust TPS and replace fuel filter and clean and adjust plug gap to 0.62 mm.

My low rpm misfire and low end torue issue sorted for the time being.

I wouldn't bother, how do you think that you will be able to get better mileage? When the O2 sensor is in its operating region the ECU will be controlling the fuelling at a preprogrammed/calculated AFR. Outside the operating region of the O2 sensor it will not be accurate. You can get MPG meters for OBD2 vehicles although I know that there are some issues with Suzuki and OBD2 in India, you could try asking on the team-bhp forum.

Installing a vaccum gauge to IM and contolling throttle press to keep the vaccum at the lowest possible always & AFR in the range of leaner mixture using the oxygen sensor output voltage readings. Can it be done by intalling a cheap but accurate chienese digital multimeter as well. And also using water injection alonside to keep the engine cool.

Would it help, even theoretically ??

During closed loop operation the ECU drives the mixture rich and then lean in turn, attempting to monitor the voltage with a voltmeter isn't practical as you will just see it switching all the time. You could try to average the readings but if the ECU is working correctly it will always be 14.7:1 in closed loop. Outside of closed loop the O2 sensor isn't accurate which is why the ECU is no longer driving closed loop. The IAT sensor mod won't work very well because the ECU will retune to compensate.
Driving on a vacuum gauge is an old fashioned method but will probably work OK. Do you know if your vehicle is OBD2 or OBD1?

Its an OBD 2 and uses an ETAS Tech 2.

What am saying is if somehow I take a parallel wire from o2 sensor wire without disconnecting the original lead of o2 sensor and connect a digital voltmeter to it with + on this and earthing the black lead. And if I can alter the ECU input from o2 sendor to ECU to make it a bit leaner and add water injection to cool the engine.

It wont still work ?

that is correct ,
your idea will not work , re read the post above yours -
it is very correct .

if you have a scan tool available , post your LTFT and STFT values at operating temperature at cruise about 45 to 50 mph .
IF sum of fuel trim is within +/- 10% from zero trim adjustment ....
and there are no DTCs
then the system is operating correctly ,

you may try to measure exhaust back pressure at the EGR back pressure transducer tap to the exhaust manifold .
at WOT back pressure should not exceed 2psi , actually 1 psi is better .
