Hi

I have a Suzuki SA310 1985, Japanese VIN number. The carburetor (MR08) I believe it is the model number needs to be repair. I can not find the repair kit. The one that I found the pump piston is not the same. Any one know where I can find it?

....Looks like you have an older non feedback carb, probably a AISIN model. Last year I also rebuilt a similar carburetor, and found my kit at the above.

I am attaching two pictures from different sides and a diagram that I found that looks similar to my carburetor, item 27 pump piston is identical. But that auto parts does not have the kit.
Thanks for your help, I hope this will help you to identify it. I found some details about the Suzuki SA-310 that identify the carburetor used on that model as an ISAN model.

You are correct.
It is a feedback type MR 08 Carburetor.

If you read this thread:

it will give you the part number for the accelerator pump rebuild kit.

There are a lot of hints to help you with your rebuild.

I doubt that accelerator pump of yours is bad, so be careful you don't break it or you will really be screwed. They aren't available, as far as I can determine. If you break it, you'll have to source a new carburetor.

You will see a picture of a broken one in the thread in case you don't understand my English.


At the risk of spoonfeeding you, I've accidentally given away the part number, eh?

So far, no one has taken the challenge to post a thread on how to rebuild the accelerator pump.
You might take pictures as you get yours rebuilt and post them here.
Using the right technique, it can be done but only a few old timers remember how to do it properly.

Hint: there's a trick to it!

For your information, if the problem is hesitation upon acceleration, it is probably due to either:
1.) incorrect fuel level in the bowl (the thread goes into this in more detail)
2.) a bad mixture control solenoid.

If I were you, I'd consider rebuilding the MCS...rebuilt MCS's go for $100 or more.

There are quite a few members on this site which would enjoy seeing pictures of your car.
I'm guessing it is in pretty good shape.
Usually they are very reliable and extremely economical.

Listen to DR Phil..(pacapo)....he dreams of this stuff in his sleep!...I still do on occasion.
The two items that pacapo mention are the most obvious problems seen. Site glass level is the easy one to determine. MCS function can only be tested by the use of a dwell meter. Many good articles on that here as well. And an actual factory service manual, is a must when tinkering with these carbs.

I agree with Mike; your accelerator pump probably isn't bad.

Ive recetnly rebuilt 2 older Aisin carbs, one from a sprint, the other from a 82 subaru brat. Find out the exact make and model carb you have then start sending emails....Though I. like phil feel its probably something Minor, at 31 years old, it wouldnt hurt to pull it off and do a full proper rebuild. With those miles and condition I personally would do nothing less, then good to go for another 20 or so years.
