While waiting to take delivery of my long term project, I decided to fill the gap with this little egg.

It's a $750 - 1996 (288K miles, Geo Metro that will soon be taken down the road to clean mods and some TLC. The interior wasn't too bad but...

this is going down the road. I attempted to purchase a replacement Saturday. I was helping the kid at the junkyard pull a pristine dash and he was in a little hurry and gouged the plastic with a screwdriver and put two scratches in it. Stopped that right there. I came back yesterday and pulled another one that came off a car that had 11,300 miles. I bought it, the entire surrounding trim, rear hatch with heated rear window and seats from a 2013 Mazda Rx8. Total: $100 crisp! Help when the yard has bought new truck beds off of me in the past.

Well on the road to becoming a pocket rocket. I will be pulling compression #'s wet and dry. I don't like the power even though she will do 70mph easy with power to spare.

You weren't kidding about cars being rust free in southern Washington.

That dash is trash. I pulled one out of a 2001. FEET ON A DASHBOARD I'm the guy who will cringe when your shoe knicks my dash as your trying to adjust your feet. No feet on a dashboard, seat or anywhere but in your shoes. I know it's not a collectible but if I treat it like a Bentley Continental then maybe it will last forever.


Really no reason to rust here. There's no exposure to anything caustic. RANT I had a friend who had a four-year-old Isuzu Trooper that he had brought back from New York. It was so rusty that he ended up junking it out. In situations like that, I would look for recourse as there are better solutions to deicing then using salt. I can't see how people arbitrarily allow the state to damage property without some sort of recourse. END RANT

I just ordered a bunch of pushpins from the dealership to replace the missing ones. I have to take the carpet out to clean and pressure wash the grime. If that don't work then new carpet time.

You're right. Those white wall rubber bands have to go. Hell, I watched the tires give when I was checking the suspension. 175/70 R13. My motorcycle trailer has bigger tires.

The clear is chipping bad. Either it can be salvaged (except for hood) or a complete respray.

I almost bought a white 98 car. Wish I had. Thought it would look good lowered about 30 - 40 mm, with 185/195 60 14's and white Swift GT hubcaps.

That car needs the later bumpers

Bought my 2010 Kizashi in 2013, it came from New Jersey originally. When I put on my catback and rear sway bar, I had to cut things off with a cutting disk and replace them, car was less than 3.5 years old and had 13,000 miles on it. While I agree that something should be done, it's not going to happen. There simply aren't enough people who care like we do to get government to change. There are alternatives, but they're either expensive or unfriendly to the environment.


Never thought I'd be saying this, but suprf1y is WRONG. The MK5 bumpers are hideous, those MK4 bumpers need to be painted properly (with the rub strip that matches the sides unpainted).

I like that look. Both bumpers have serious gouges in them. I am either going to my buddy's shop to have them plastic welded or get cleaner ones. Either way they will be painted body color (white) and I have already ordered the side molding.



I will be lowering this. I want to run a + 2 tire size (15's) on some Nissan 15x6's.

I truly appreciate the offer but I don't do rust at all. We don't have any of that here. If it does I'd rather buy new. Along with that if the interior has a scratch or mar, it's getting replaced. I grew up in a family of automobile aficionados.

My grandmother still owned her 1978 Datsun B210 wagon in 2007. When she passed in 2008 the car had less than 43k. My aunt bought it from the estate to keep it on the road in California as a registered classic. The seats had been covered since new in 1978. My mother bought her mom's 1992 Toyota Camry that had 2500 miles on it in 2008 as well. My parents all have low mileage newer cars that look like they were just purchased. My dad taught us that we needed to treat our vehicles like it was the last one we would ever purchased. This still holds true today.
