A green 2 door metro which will be sporting a 2.5 QR25DE, 6 speed spec-v transmission with LSD and ofcourse, some boost snail style. I will turn this into my build thread, starting with a long overdrawn introduction.
The motor makes 175hp stock, which is more than what my modded 3cyl has (roughly 120 at 10psi... soon to be about 18 with megasquirt) but the problem is I keep breaking transmissions, and whats the point in having power if you cant use it? Not only that but I am the kind of guy that rags on his machines, and im tired of eating up 1 13" tire every 30 days. I cant help it. Wheel spin is fun for the first little while, then you wish you could be moving forward and improving times instead. So this is a project I had to jump on, the price was right and its got the LSD Id be spending alot on for a gti box... which will inevitably strip teeth off the gears again anyways. screw it.
The guy I am buying it from has a shop, CWS Tuning:
http://www.cwstuning.com/ and is a member of another car community I post-whore up and has done most of the work already. The motor is in, its got a turbo manifold already, its got engine management software and the axles made up for the metro hubs. So essentially I am going to be finishing his project, the important, expensive and hard work has been done already. Thats huge!
Now Ive never had a newer Nissan than an 88, so I've got some reading to do on what my limits are with this motor and drivetrain, but 6 gears and an LSD is going to be insane. So onto the plans!
Stock motor, compression is only 9:1 so I intend to boost this motor without any other modifications other than software and the turbo goodies (you know, manifold, the snail, injectors, pump, tubes, etc etc). Plans for lumpy cams though. only has ~64000km on motor/trans
Brake upgrade front/rear
Coil overs front/rear are a must
Not sure on swaybars, it needs a front one fabbed up anyways, so probably bigger, they are relatively cheap anyways
Planning on using 14" wheels if I can get away with it (re: brakes) and some RT615's all around. Want small rotating height to keep the final drive up.
Body: All stock, maybe a lip, dont want people knowing what its got.
other than that, nothing too special, its basically 50% done as it is. And here I was gonna spend 8-10k building up a cultus, pff, got the car as is for 2k, how could I say no?
Will put some sort of performance clutch/flywheel on so I hopefully wont have to take it out and apart anytime soon.
SPEC V:Gear Ratios

Differential: helical limited slip
GT:Gear Ratios
1: 3.416:1 2: 1.894:1 3: 1.375:1 (or 1.280:1 non gti) 4: 1.030:1 (or 0.914:1 non gti) 5: 0.870:1 (or 0.757:1 non gti) Final drive: 4.105:1

That gearbox gets rid of the bad gaps in the first few gears the GT trannies have. 3.1 in first gear is nice too.
And you know me, ofcourse this thread will be covered with tons of pics
