Anyone know if I can swap the SOHC head on my 1.3L 93 Swift for the DOHC head, and if so what years will swap over?

You can swap the heads. It is all of the support systems that will be hard on this conversion.
You will need to also aquire the following parts. Conversion time is measured in weeks.
DOHC Head
DOHC intake manifold. You can use the 98 throttle body
DOHC exhaust manifold and 90 degree exhaust pipe with two holes into one hole.
The rest of the exhaust sytem gets trashed and go 2.0" from exhaust manifold to tailpipe.
DOHC fuel rail with injectors. you can use the 98 stuff.
DOHC timing covers and timing belt.
I had to make a new housing for the Cam Sensor to make it fit the DOHC distributor hole. Use the 98 cam
sensor and a must... the 98 stator off of the 98 cam.
DOHC intake air system. you can use the 98 stuff
PCM and wiring harness. Use the 98 stuff.
DOHC engine accessories mounting brackets, support brackets, throttle cable.
It took me almost 2 years to get all the parts for my conversion.

A 93 sohc pistons don't have the valve cutouts for the dohc head. Otherwise yes you can bolt it on with a lot of required ancillary devices.

With a donor car it's a full weekend swap, much easier if your current car is a 1.3 5spd. Done a few. With a 93/94 donor it will be plug and play but you will need to switch a couple harness over. It does become tricky without a donor car though. You land up with a pile of parts and have to sort through where everything goes, adds a lot of time unless you've been aroun the cars a lot and are familiar with everything. Most people find a complete rusted donor and swap the whole works over, but of course finding a donor can be hard in some areas.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I had my first swift 13 years ago, and have rebuilt, modified, and swapped the 1.3 SOHC's in and out of them a few times, but never the DOHC. A donor car is next to out of the question where I live. It's just a fleeting idea at the moment. This is a 5 speed currently equipped with a crappy custom header running a Holset HX-30 and 2 1/4" exhaust, no cat or muffler. I'm running 10 psi but I've had to add injectors into the intake pipe to cope with the turbo. One is pressure activated and the other is full throttle activated. It works, but far from perfect. I'd like to have direct port injection instead of TB injection. I just blew the head gasket so started considering a swap since the head is coming off anyways.

fainya, thanks, a lot of good info there. I figured as much on 95% of that stuff, I was mainly concerned if the head would bolt up. I thought I read something once that they used the same block, but then I though I read something else that they didn't, I can't remember. Maybe it's just cheaper and/or easier to find a complete engine and just do the swap that way.

The block can use DOHC or SOHC heads. It is all the support systems for fuel and ignition that can make the project
a nightmare. Take the time to research what you want to end up with. See if it is within your budget. Compromise,
but always go for good parts, not cheap parts.
I spent over a year researching what I wanted and aquiring the parts.
