I have found these cars to be an excellent platform for electric conversions, so here are some of my motor swaps.

I have looked at your builds, nice and clean, great attention to detail!
its nice to see a retrofitted platform, instead of just buying new, a person can have something custom, one of a kind, lots of the parts are fairly cheap and easy to obtain.
not your average metro, and I bet it pulls hard!
reminds me of my old t-maxx nitro r/c....they were all the rage, but then electric tech caught up, now beats out nitro....I remember always tuning my nitro, carb issues, engines only lasting 3 or 4 hours....plus lots of hours and money invested.
bought a 22 volt lipo 2.7 hp hpi brushless.....and it blew my mind! out of the box, no tuning, just batteries and go! largest cost are the batteries, I pay $90 for a 11.1 volt 6,000 mah lipo....then another $120 for the balance charger.....but its worth it! truck will go 60+ mph out of the box, but trying to control it is another thing! pure torque with that electric!
and no noise!

These old metros and swifts seem to be disappearing, which is kind of a shame, since they are one of the best platforms for tomorrow's technology.

Blueturbofly, I do shop for a lot of stuff on rc sites. Rc cars may be a lot smaller, but they are a similar concept. That white conversion above runs a cell log 8 to monitor the 4 lithium cells that run the 12 volt factory harness. When I surf those rc sites, I look at the batteries that they sell for rc stuff... they will run a street car just like they run an rc car if you buy enough of them. Lotsa fun....

The cars can still be found. Most people do not want to fix the g10 head so they end up In the junk Yard. You could post something like this on Craigslist. Looking for Geo metros running or not. By the way i just saw a super fast Electric Datsun. It would be great to beat his record with a Electric Metro.
