I got a GT short block while I was in California. Got the short block home and started looking at the differences between a 1.3L 8 valve and a 1.3L 16 valve GT engine. GT rod are thicker and free float. GT crankshaft is Forged not cast and cross drilled oil holes. Main bearing caps have a girdle across the caps to stiffen them. 1st question is: when suzuki cross drilled the forged crankshaft (the hole that goes from the main journal to the rod journal) on this crankshaft they left the end of the hole opened (unsealed). With the engine running these hole will be spraying oil everywhere. This has got to be the reason that the 1.3L has low oil pressure at hot idle. 2nd question: What is your thought about plugging these drill holes off? Or tap them and then screw in an orfice so the crank still sprays oil everywhere, with the orfice controlling how much oil is sprayed.
