I bought a new pair on eBay, for $32, free shipping.
I am running an old Alpine headunit, cda 7873, no amplifiers, with old Kicker midbass 6.5" 's in the deck shelf, and the Lanzar VX620's in the doors of a 96 Saturn SL1. Replacing JVC 5 1/4" JC Whitney speakers, which I replaced upon blowing all 4 stock ones with the stock cassette player.
I installed them outside, during the first snow, when it was cold. My very first impression was disappointing. I let the car warm, and let the speakers play for 1/2 hour, at low levels, while in the house. When I came back out, upon turning the stereo louder, I couldn't believe my ears. These speakers are cheap, and really good. SUPERIOR to ANYTHING Walmart sells, in this size. It really sounds like Pete Townshend is on the floor by my feet, playing the guitar, and Keith Moon is drumming away on the dash. Bass is decent, too. They really are so crystal clear, unamped, that I have to have the fader set 2 out of 15 to the rear to avoid my ears hurting.

You can ALMOST understand what Bob Dillan is saying!
Techno, rap, country, classical, it's all crystal clear. Still less than 6 hours on them. The more they get used, the better they sound.
Not bad in my book for $32..... Not bad at all........
The combo is so warm and cozy sounding.
