Well it’s that time of the year again. Time to finish up the repairs, clean out all of the little holes in the 24-hole wheel covers, pack a small bag and head south out of the Northern California rain. The Sunny oasis that is SoCal was beconing;

Welcome To the TEAMSWIFT SoCal Meet & Cruise: 2014 Edition



This year we decided on a more organized version of last year’s meet in the Malibu Hills and Mountains. We met at the Albertsons parking lot for the initial meet up.

SATURDAY







Jamal Spelling brought his Sprint Turbo that he bought new in 87’!!! It’s currently pushing 700,000 miles





From there we lined up to head out into the beautiful mountains. The plan was to split into 2 groups. One group would be hitting the canyons and would delve into some hard core technical mountain roads. The other group would follow a more toned down route. No matter which way you went though, the scenery was amazing.


I don’t have many photos of the drive but PVR007 has posted some great videos of us driving the mountain roads.



From there we met up on PCH (HWY 1) and cruised as one group back up Latigo Canyon Rd to Mulholland and the Rock Store for lunch and to check out all the exotic cars and bikes.





After hanging out and changing out the distributors on many of the cars, we headed back down to PCH to check out the sunset and enjoy some good conversation.













PCH was closed in both directions just north of us due to a major landslide the day before. So, what better time than this to take a group photo in the middle of HWY 1.



The original plan was to head up PCH after sunset to Ventura and take in the Ventura Christmas Boat Parade. With PCH being closed, we had to detour back through the mountains to HWY 101. Instead, some of the group decided to call it a nite, but Phil, Ruby, Calrenman, Kara, and myself were able to make it out there.



SUNDAY

Sunday morning, Teeth & Family, DTM GTI, Roger, Spoolin, and myself headed out the the valley to check out the fabled cars & coffee. All I can say is holy S&!T!!! I’ll let the photos do the talking. …. Although, I will say that out little cars were quite the hit.

After a stop for some health food, McDonalds style, we headed back up Mulholland to a section of road called the snake to watch cars and bikes try to go around it as fast as they can without wrecking.





From there we parted ways. It was time for me to head back up north, back into the rain and time for them to head back to the desert.



This weekend was Amazing! The views, the people, the cars…. Just EPIC……

I was too focused to worry about my camera setup in Tuna Canyon so I don't have video I hear it is hard on Metro brakes.

Once again, this location is fun not just because the roads are incredible, but because you get the sense of being in the center of American car-culture. Just getting on the road to get to the Albertson's parking lot, I looked around me on the freeway and saw a Bugatti Veyron convertible, 2 Ferrari 458s, 2 Audi R8s, a lime green GTR, a Porche GT3 cup, a Rolls, and various other high end machinery weaving in and out of traffic--there must have been some kind of a road rally. How often does one share the road with many millions of dollars of exotic machinery at once?

One gets the same sense at the cars and coffee. I think my toddler had a good time.

It was best Meet so far thanks to little more preparation then past years. The weather was incredible considering previous 24 hours and Monday forecast. We had bigger turn out then last year and everyone was in the good mood and ready for some fun in the canyons.

Few Geo Metro Forum members joined in the fun and seemed to enjoy it. Richard and Paul were in the parking lot before anyone , Lawrence and his girlfriend met us at the Rock store for lunch and continued with us to Ventura for fireworks .

That was great. I noticed some nice lines into the corners from the camera car. Again, great job but the only minor complaint, edit out the sitting on the side of the road.

I will try I will encourage everyone at the next meet to get one of these dashcams, it's way funner to get recorded and see the car from behind. I think pill and Ruby bit the bullet and bought one. Definetly worth the money again insurence claims.

pvr007 - I bought a couple more of those dash cams yesterday. I can't believe they are so inexpensive! For sure I'll start taping our next drive. With several sites giving free 50GB storage, it won't be long before more people start uploading videos from Teamswift.

Our dearest Phil: (you my pessimistic friend, are one of the many participants I would love to see if you look any-thing like the individual I have pictured in my mind )It is not lack of desire. or lack of attempts, (I can attest to 10-12 hours, two cameras and 4 computers now,obtained in an effort to post pictures here.) But each time I attempt.The Teamswift site says I have to many pixals or need to re-size or add bacon bites or something else I have no Idea about. ) I even tried to link to my photo bucket acct, No Go. So I sit somewhat on the sidelines, watching the world and the rest of the cognoscenti go by. ( Yeah I Know "cue the violins" )
But Hope is on the Horizon, (I think) Last summer, I pulled out the 87 sprint turbo to give it a little exercise. I brought it up to snowfish's shop (He took it for a Drive, His first Turbo sprint ) and I believe he got some pictures. I may enlist him to give me a hand. or ask him to just post them for me (Top drawer guy by the way )
