I have a 2000 swift manual. I have pulled the transmission to put a new clutch in and im replacing the CV shafts. The passenger CV shaft had a bracket that was mounted to the motor that i took the 3 bolts out and then the shaft pulled out of the tranny. I bought new CV shafts from parts store and the new shaft doesn't have the built in bracket. do i have the wrong shaft or did they re engineer the way the shaft is and i dont need this bracket anymore?

I think you may have the wrong shaft.

every parts store website i go to has the same cv shaft and it looks the same as the new one i bought. non of them have the built in bracket like the old one

Since you have a 2000 Swift manual transmission car, its engine is a G13BB SOHC 16V engine instead of the G10 3 cylinder that uses unequal length CV axles.

This also means that your car uses an intermediate shaft bolted to the engine block, so that the (right) passenger side CV axle is almost the same length as the driver side CV axle.

The intermediate shaft itself is no longer available, but the bearings should be serviceable/replaceable. (contact teamswift member bbowens if you need parts) If your intermediate shaft is in good condition, go back to the parts store and get them to look up the correct CV axle for your year/engine/transmission combination. Your new axle will simply slide into the intermediate shaft housing; you can then reinstall the whole assembly back onto the car.

Just a small tip here when replacing:

Make sure you loosen the 3 bolt bracket holding the 'extension shaft'/'intermediate shaft') bearing, taking out both linked shafts at the same time.

Because:

The two shafts are likely to be rusted together, as they get no oil supply as from the single shaft that is connected into the gearbox to give away some leaked oil.

In order to separate them, try WD40 in the joint over night. I had to cut the CV with an angle grinder in order to separate the shafts... When assembling it, use plenty of copper grease to avoid rust.
