I rebuilt the engine on my metro five months ago. the replacement o ring for the coolant pipe did not fit properly after installation and leaked so I placed a lot of high temp sealer on it. Now it is leaking again. this is the original pipe but not sure why it does not fit properly into the pipe hole in the block.

I was thinking about getting an over sized O ring and try that. If I had the block out I would try and thread the entry and the Pipe to screw in or maybe put a ring and tap in some screws to pull it tights and hold it in place. But I don't have that luxury.

Any suggestions.

Sorry to get back to you so late on this--I'm sure you've figured out some sort of fix by now. But what I'd do in your situation next time is:

1) Never count on RTV for fixing any sort of leak, particularly a wrong O-ring kind of leak
2) Doublecheck the pipe itself because they often rust all to hell at the water pump connection and the only fix there is a new one, unless you are one hell of a sheet metal welder and grinder.
3) Easiest fix here is to order up a new water pump from our favorite cheap auto parts supplier, RockAuto, for less than $15, and use the O-rings that come with that pump, and keep the water pump on the shelf for a spare.
