2000 Swift, automatic trans.

As above. A little shot of starting fluid gets it going. Then it runs like a champ. Idles fine, accelerates fine, etc. Turn it off and it won't start without the SF. Hot or cold.

Scan says TPS. I have one on order.

Is there a trick to installing the TPS? It appears your only options are which side of the throttle tab you put in the TPS slot. I don't know which side is right or if there is some kind of adjustment.

Note: Someone took the factory setting off the idle screw, so we are just setting it to a comfortable idle. Perhaps that throws the TPS off, but I don't know how to get it back to right.

New tps installed. No difference. Diagnosing these cars is a nightmare. The manual should just say, "Replace everything, at outrageous prices. Maybe that will work."

So I assume by starting fluid, that if you just squirted regular gasolene that it would also start as well..

If so then something is not allowing the Injector to spray fuel into the system when you are turning the ignition key.
did you verify that the Injector is actually dry (not squirting fuel) when you are cranking the engine?

Once you get the cars dialed-in (compression, leaks, bearings, alignment, brakes) swap in new rubber and glass, you've got something which should last for years!
