My son wanted to video me cleaning my standby lifters. I also included some instructions so here you go.

Step 1)Tap on lifter top, use only a flat surface and a flat head hammer so you do not damage the lifter face.
The plunger will come part way out then use a pair of pliers to finish removing the plunger.
Step 2) When the plunger is apart there will be a large spring inside.
Step 3) Remove the cap this holds a small spring and ball (It is very easy to lose the small spring). Leave the spring in the cap when cleaning so you do not lose it.
Step 4)Clean the ball and seat. Put the ball back on the spring, put the cap containing the ball & spring back on the plunger. Use a small screwdriver to push down the edges of the cap, you will hear it snap in. Make sure it is pushed all the down and even all the way around.
Step 5) Use the degreaser to clean the top of the cap & the inside of the plunger.
Step 6) Clean the large spring
Step 7) Install the large spring inside of the plunger housing. Install the plunger in the housing, make sure the plunger is free to move up and down, clean out the inside of the lifter.
Step Fill the inside of the lifter with oil, don't worry about overfilling it once the plunger is reinstalled, you will press down and oil will discharge out of the small port on the side.
Once you have finished rebuilding the lifters store them in a leakproof container filled with oil.
