Most of the engine mods relating to intake and exhaust are towards high end torque.

I was annoyed at the low end response of my ride. I researched and found that a longer intake tube and slightly bigger diameter intake pipe just b4 the throttle body shifts my peak torque a bit towards low end, by low end I mean the startup ~ 1200 rpm to 1500 rpm.

I felt good drivability around town, less gear shifts, smooth start up in first gear without even a slight shudder.

Other people may have tried it too, please give your feedback.

All you did was mod it a bit closer to what originally came from the factory. Just think how great it would be if it had been left alone to start with.

Its 3 inches longer and about 1/4 inches thicker tube than factory. I am buying a Baleno tube and will fit that in reverse as the reverse end is still thicker. Will post pic after doing so.

I keep on experimenting with diff tube sizes and have come to a conclusion that longer tubes with bigger diameter near the throttle body give best throttle response in an NA engine.

hey,
i found that just fully taking the air box and assembly off the air filter works great. Because the 93 are carb'd you can put just a normal air filter on it. I found that it greatly improved the acceleration and the torque on the car. Oh and if it comes to any significance adding a 2 1/2 inch exhaust from the cat back greatly improves performance and gas mileage

Once you get the cars dialed-in (compression, leaks, bearings, alignment, brakes) swap in new rubber and glass, you've got something which should last for years!

I had this argument with my dad for years... Was he surprised when I pulled the injector out...

I got 18MPG in a 3cyl with a 5 speed manual 4dr, '93 Metro!

Ok so i retract my previous statement...my bad, anyways as i did say i do just have a regular circle air filter i pulled off my dads old Chevy truck and modified it a little to fit.

I just showed my neighbor the throttle body and injectors on his 'new carb'd' 1991 sprint tonight, Got his old 88 sprint for free though! didn't even ask for it.
