This is a potentially fatal flaw affecting 38,229 Swifts from 1989-1993.
I think recalls do not expire. Nissan replaced all 1987 300zx fuel injectors for me in 1997 under recall. for free. $800 parts and labor. If your local dealer is ignorant, there is contact info in the following NHTSA RECALL BULLETIN. Then the TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN explains how to do the fix.

Model(s): 1989 Suzuki Swift
1990 Suzuki Swift
1991 Suzuki Swift
1992 Suzuki Swift
1993 Suzuki Swift
Campaign No: 93V189000
Number of Affected Vehicles: 38229
Beginning Date of Manufacture: 1988 JAN
Ending Date of Manufacture: 1993 JAN
DESCRIPTION OF DEFECT:
Mislocated attaching spot welds of the hood striker assembly cause
cracks to start on the hood inner panel. If cracks occur, the hood
striker assembly may not properly engage the hood latch when the hood
is closed.
FAULT:
Weld, Solder broken
SYSTEM:
Structure; hood assembly.
CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT:
An improperly engaged hood latch may result in a hood fly-up while the
vehicle is in motion. This could obstruct the driver’s view and could
cause a vehicle crash.
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
Suzuki will (A) install two bolts and nuts to secure the striker
assembly to the hood inner panel, and (B) ensure that the hood latch
assembly fasteners are properly tightened.
NOTE:
If your vehicle is presented to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon
service date and the remedy is not provided within a reasonable time
and free of charge or the remedy does not correct the defect or
noncompliance, please contact Suzuki Service Center at 1-714-996-7040.
Also, please contact the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration’s Auto Safety Hotline at 1-800-424-9393.

Part 2TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
Model(s): 1989-1993 Suzuki Swift
Section Title: Body & Frame
Bulletin No.: TS 1-12 12173
Division: Automotive
Category: Technical
CONDITION:
The hood striker assembly may not properly engage the hood latch
when closed. This could result in a hood fly-up while the vehicle is
in motion, and could cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
CAUSE:
The hood striker assembly attachment spot welds may be misaligned
which would allow cracks to initiate on the hood inner panel.
CORRECTION:
Install two (2) bolts, washers, and lock nuts to secure the striker
assembly to the hood inner panel. Check the torque of the three (3)
hood latch assembly retaining bolts.
