Two New Bearing per side Parts Master (PM107DD) @ $9.99 Napa auto
Jack & Jack stands
a Stout Vice
Hammer
Punch (I used 1/2 round stock 6") to pound out bearing
32 MM socket take off axle nut
Pliers remove 2 cotter pins
12mm wrench to remove Brake calliper
17 mm wrench to remove 2 bolts on strut tower & Tie rod end also lug nuts
14 mm wrench to remove lower spindle/ball joint bolt

Time: 1hr 15 minute

I would be better if a Hydraulic press was used
to press out and in bearing............................ But not necessary

remove small cap inside wheel
remove cotter pin from axle
remove axle nut (32mm) socket
loosen all 4 lug nut (17mm) socket

Jack up car put on stands
.
remove wheel
remove cotter pin Tie rod use hammer to hit side of spindle were tie rod goes through spindle(do not hit tie rod)
remove tie rod bolt (17mm
remove 2 strut bolts (17mm)
remove brake caliper bolts (12mm)
remove lower spindle bolt/ball joint (14mm) after bolt is removed use screw drive to spread apart to lift off ball joint
remove spindle assmbly

take assbly to Vice

with 1/2 round stock punch remove the caliper disc / Axle outer spline assmbly by tapping out with punch with hammer
on the outer assmbly in the hole take punch and put between inner spacer and bearing lip tap out bearing
remove that bearing and middle spacer flip over tap out other bearing (back side bearing)

put new bearings in freezer to shrink
with the (32mm) socket gently tap in new outer bearing till seat install inner spacer tap in inner bearing with socket
till they are both snug against inner spacer
(Be careful to avoid damage.... only to tap outer ring on bearing's)
re assmble
Torq axle nut to 80lb

Great post, thanks, but what do you do if the inner spacer is totally destroyed and the part of the hub the inner bearing race sits on has such a deep groove in it that its unusable? I can't find new bearing spacers or new hubs.

Thanks, I'll see about getting the spacers from those sources. I hadn't gone back to that former Suzuki dealer who seemed cooperative about getting the Mk1 parts because they are quite out of the way from my usual beaten path and I'm pretty sure it will turn out to be a wasted trip anyway. Maybe I'll write the part name and numbers down on a piece of paper and stick it onto the sun visors of the vehicles I drive so I remember to pop over to that dealer sometime when I'm in their area and have some time to kill.( Which I never have, I'm always busy). But even if I get the new spacers I still have the problem of hubs so deeply grooved they are unusable and I can't find new hubs.

or find someone here (teamswift for sale thread) parting out a MK1...if not I have a few used hubs that would work but shipping might get expensive because there heavy just hub ( no rotor)....jv&s

No. All the Mk1 Sprints, Forsas and Fireflys are long gone from the junkyards. I was told by one wrecker there is no money in them so they go straight to the crusher.

That would be excellent if you could mail me some good hubs without the rotors. I think you're somewhere near Seattle and I'm just over the border in Vancouver, B.C. so I'll search the web to see if I can find the U.S. postal service rates for a hub. Do you have any idea how much they weigh? I have gouged out hubs kicking around that I could weigh but I don't have a scale so I would have to bring it to the local supermarket and throw it on the bulk foods and fruit and veggies weigh scale to see what it weighs. Or maybe bring it to a local post office to get it weighed.

I was thinking I would have to build some sort of kiln to heat the gouged hub to 500 degrees then try to weld up the gouges with hard chrome rod (a rod which I've never used, and I'm a pretty hack uneducated self taught welder anyway) and get it lathed down at a machine shop but I don't yet have a generator going which is big enough to run my 220V arc welder.

I have a post office box in the main postal station in Vancouver and they will only accept delivery of packages from other countries government postal services, they will not accept packages from FedEx or UPS or any other private courier. Greyhound parcel service is also an option. I got some pistons from Ontario Canada that way.

OMFG!!!!! USPS flat rate for 6 to 10 days delivery of a package under 20 pounds is $55.75 US dollars. And that's before I get fucked over on exchange rate and all the taxes and duty my socialist nanny state will want to charge me.
