At high speed acceleration, say about 100+ mph,
it is very abrupt at the point when you suddenly let off the throttle
and begin to decelerate.
So the moment the engine stops powering full throttle at high speed,
and the transmission is no longer under power, at that moment when
the transition to drive the transmission begins coming from the momentum turning
the wheels, it is a bit rough.
Maybe it's just my setup as I fitted the LSD into a non-european MK1 tranny,
but wondering if you could explain this?

Another question I've been meaning to ask on this.
What gear oil do you recommend? I've been using the syncromesh as usual.
Should I be using an additive or possibly another type gear oil?

Does anyone know if these will fit the large body, cable shift, 1.6L transmission? I haven't pulled mine apart yet to measure it up, but I'd love to put an LSD in if it's already apart.

No they won't, the "large frame gearbox" diff is bigger, you have loads of LSD options for the large frame box as it's interchangable with the 2005 onwards Swift Sport.

In response to JamalSpelling:

I've contacted Balli on transmission oil and he says it shouldn't matter. Torsen diffs do not need any special additive like a clutch-type. I use Valvoline synchromesh, though that's not what they use in Europe as it is a GM specification so it is simply less available.

I will say that it pays to change your fluid even more often--at this point I change it when I change my oil. Since installing the LSD I've had substantially more shavings on the magnet, whether that's from wearing the gears of the diff or the additional stress on the tranny, or just the way I flog the car, I couldn't say. Or maybe I'm just using the wrong gear oil after all...

I'm not quick to blame the lsd for my issues, but I have a vibration and inconsistent lock-up at low speeds. It could be the diff, or it could be my axles, it could be something did not get pressed perfectly square when reassembling the transmission, it could be that lsd+poly motor mounts makes small imperfections in wheel and tire balance more noticeable at some speeds :dunno: Unfortunately, it's kind of a pain to disassemble the trans again (especially since I just did it) then disassemble the LSD to inspect, as if I even knew what I was looking for. Given the labor involved, I will probably wait to do it until I break something again.

Next time Balli checks this thread my question for him is whether, if I bought another one to put on the shelf so it's ready to go the next time I have the trans apart, if he would then be willing to buy the core of the old one if I sent it back for rebuild, and how much he would pay...
