In response to JamalSpelling:
I've contacted Balli on transmission oil and he says it shouldn't matter. Torsen diffs do not need any special additive like a clutch-type. I use Valvoline synchromesh, though that's not what they use in Europe as it is a GM specification so it is simply less available.
I will say that it pays to change your fluid even more often--at this point I change it when I change my oil. Since installing the LSD I've had substantially more shavings on the magnet, whether that's from wearing the gears of the diff or the additional stress on the tranny, or just the way I flog the car, I couldn't say. Or maybe I'm just using the wrong gear oil after all...
I'm not quick to blame the lsd for my issues, but I have a vibration and inconsistent lock-up at low speeds. It could be the diff, or it could be my axles, it could be something did not get pressed perfectly square when reassembling the transmission, it could be that lsd+poly motor mounts makes small imperfections in wheel and tire balance more noticeable at some speeds
Unfortunately, it's kind of a pain to disassemble the trans again (especially since I just did it) then disassemble the LSD to inspect, as if I even knew what I was looking for. Given the labor involved, I will probably wait to do it until I break something again.
Next time Balli checks this thread my question for him is whether, if I bought another one to put on the shelf so it's ready to go the next time I have the trans apart, if he would then be willing to buy the core of the old one if I sent it back for rebuild, and how much he would pay...
