Hi gang!

I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 52yo former Brit, living in NZ. My son bought a 1986 Swift 3-door for $150 - good condition, apart from a blown head gasket. He's doing the car up for his 17yo sister, for her first car. When he reassembled the engine, it fired first time, and runs as smooth as a sewing-machine. I gather it's a 1,324cc engine.

He's just short of one replacement part, before taking the car for its safety inspection, so that it can be registered.

I'll be teaching my daughter how cars work, and how to maintain cars, with her new-to-her machine. I've got Chilton manual 28700, which I think is the right one. She'll be the one wielding the spanners on it, whilst I advise. I expect we'll be sharing news and asking for advice here.

I need some help locating the one replacement part we need. Which is the correct forum list here to ask about it on?

I'll post pictures as soon as I can. The car is in Christchurch (NZ's south island) and I'm in Wellington (NZ's north island) so it's 200 miles and a ferry ride away. My son will be able to take pictures for me. When the car is ready, I'll fly down, and drive it home.
