In other news, I went to check out an 87 Sprint at the local Pick N' Pull and found this bad boy. It's only the second one that I've ever seen in person with the door still attached. A little cleaning and some paint and it'll be good to go.

Thank you so much for the images clicked above. It is nice. I loved it. It's a marvelous project and it is done with hard work, whoever designed dis model has done it in an excellent and detailed manner. The front of the car is spacious, design is amazing and I am sure that the price will be worth to pay for it.

Today I was able to finish and install the center console and the parking brake boot.





additionally I got the door panels fully taped off, cleaned, and sprayed a light coat of Storm Gray to complete the refurbishing.

This took a good 3 hours because it seemed like everything that could possible go haywire did. However Ben and I persevered and the seats are it. Big thanks to Ben for doing most of the work

I Got some more work done.

And came out looking like this.



I attached a set of 4x6 Clarion speakers to the rear package tray mounts



Then attached the rear package tray mounts to the Sprint.





I cleaned the spare wheel and tire, the jack and the tire iron.



Then put them back in their places



Lastly I added the wooden cover, re-attached the rear carpet and the plastic trim piece around the rear hatch



I should get the rear package tray back from the upholstery shop this week and I’ll post some more photos when I do.

Got these in the mail today....



The box says gray but the carpets are actually Smoke.







Additionally, with most of the parts back in the Sprint, I was able to clean up the garage and get the sprint back indoors.



I'm still waiting for the package tray to be finished and for the new vinyl strips that go above the door panel. I'll update as soon as I have them.

LOVE the floor mats!!! Did it come with the hooks to put in the carpet? Interior is looking fantastic!!!

It does come with the hooks to put in the carpet. I'm still on the fence as to weather to install them or not.

These are not factory. Lloyd Mats manufactures replacement mats to the same specs as the originals.

This car keeps getting better and better... Would love to see all of them in the good condition you are making this one!

I have to chime in here and say that your work is outstanding.
I love the package tray! Speakers are a nice touch too, I would
think about enclosing the 6x9''s, at minimum I would get a foam
baffle/cover from crutchfield, that would be easy.


I have to ask how is the foam holding up on the front seats?
That being the weakest part prone to age, did you have them
add/repair any of the foam or just a straight recover?
(I'm constantly vacuuming up foam residue under the seats)
I think I can see an outline of some of the worn foam?
Nonetheless, they still look excellent.


Your upper door panel strips don't look that bad?
Are you having them made?
I just did my driver side with vinyl.
After procrastinating 10 years, I finally got tired of the scratchy feeling on my arm
and the bad looks. They got torn up from broken glass on several break ins over the years.
All it took was 30 minutes and some vinyl.
On this car, right now it's the best looking piece!

The hardest part about installing is removing all the old adhesive so the door
panel doesn't bulge out, and then getting the inner window wiper strip
(well, what's left of it) back into place with the little clips.
I used 2 sided permanent scotch tape (it's thin) on the bottom and
sides in the OE locations and it's the window wiper strip that holds it
in place on top. So secure the top first after removing and reinstalling
the inner window wiper then wrap it down and burnish it on the tape
and the door panel will keep it secure.

Curious to know if you've replaced/found a source for any door weatherstripping
or window wiper strips.

The vinyl on my passenger side door is burnt and cracked and I don’t have any vinyl piece on the driver’s side door. Carlos ordered the matching vinyl so I’m just waiting for it to come in and I’ll put it on. Yours looks great. Thanks for the installation advice, I’ll definitely use it.

With regards to the seat foam, around 80% of it has been replaced with new material.

For weather-stripping, I was able to get new windshield trim but other then that I got nada. I'd love a good lead too. If you find one let me know.

Today The trunk lock/unlock actuator was installed. Like the rear seat speaker wires, the wires for the trunk lock/unlock are pre-run by Suzuki. In fact the plug is even pre-installed and sitting behind the dash bundled with the other wires. All thats required is instaling the actuator, wiring it up, and plugging in the factory switch. This is assuming that the previous owner punched out the switch plate and left a big hole.

Hey all. It’s been awhile since my last post. Life and work intervened for a little bit but more progress has been made!!

New Vinyl has been attached to the top of each door.





Both door panels have been restored to like new condition.





And the doors have been put back together. (minus one door handle screw cover which I have but can’t find)





The rear package tray was recovered and installed





I also painted the front passenger and driver vents as well as the ashtray but I don’t have pics of those yet.

As it is today.

Just got back from the Japanese Classic Car Show. It was worth the drive and all the preparation. The people were great and the cars were spectacular. The Sprint was a hit and drew a good crowd throughout the day. It did the 1200 mile round trip in 100 degree weather like a pro and never even threatened to leave me stranded. I'll post more photos over the weekend to the JCCS thread in the Meetings & Regional News section.

Hey all, long time no post so I figured I'd post a little update. My GF and I went to the Teamswift meet in Palm Springs back in December http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=54827. On the way back we made a rest stop in Kramer Junction (by we I mean Emilia.) I waited in the car with our 3 (smallish) dogs who also accompanied us on the trip. So we're just waiting there and this bird lands on the windshield wipers and just hangs out there until Emi came back from the restroom. I think the dogs were just as amazed as I was because they didn't bark or go nuts.







After that I made a stop (much to the annoyance of Emi) to check out the Tehachapi Loop because it's something I've always wanted to see as I'm a minor train nerd.








We ended up making it home safe and sound just before sunset. Total trip miles: 1313



Just a couple days a go I went over to Taiso's place and I took some Turbo Sprint porn (see below) while he installed new Calipers and pads on his Turbo.



Lastly, I'm in the market for a good condition Muffler Mounting Stopper (See photo below.) If anyone has one feel free to hit me up.
