Greetings,

I have been following the forum for about a week and I am now ready to post...btw great job, seems very friendly over here!

Ok...here is what I think of my project. First, I am looking for a 1989-1992 GTi/GT, I should mention I am in Montreal, Quebec...and unfortunately there hasn't been a single GT/GTi for sale in over a week! I found one in Ontario, it's a 1990, 200k km, engine & transmission in good cond. Front suspension not good. $450 obo.
What do you think?! other than the rusting spots I saw in another post, should I get it even if it's got rust on the hood or front?!

I should specify that it's a project, my goal is to make a decent lapping car that would be daily driven until it becomes really a tack car.

I am looking into a DSM 14B, with lots of DSM parts...friend of mine has a DSM for rally and knows them inside-out so we will try with as many DSM parts as possible (BOV, intercooler, turbo, 450cc injectors, fuel pump and TB).

What I want at first is to try to run the 14B at 12-14psi...we figured that it wouldn't cost a *LOT* more to go from 7-8 psi to 12-14psi.

My only concerns are the following:

-Is the Tom Chip good for a turbo setup or it's not recommended?!
-What ECU/fuel management is the cheapest to try at up to 14psi? I'd rather take a risk at running a piggyback setup that isn't expensive and that some folks here would be able to tune without too much problems...it's a shop specializing in DSM but they do turbo timing and such on a weekly basis.

Also, how long does it takes to change the clutch on a GT? Anyone in Quebec or near in Ontario that can do it for a decent amount?

Looking forward your answers!

p.s. I didn't mention any suspension/pipes related mods but will do soon.

Cheers!

Edited by: Flywaver at: 3/30/03 8:27:25 am
