Found a 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi today on Craigslist. Guy wanted $500 for it and I emailed him and had to wait a terrifying 15 hours before he responded to me by phone. During this time I had a fear that every other Teamswifter was sinking their claws into this one. Anyways, after three emails later, the guy called me and said that he was checking ALL his emails on the car and since I was local he called me. I asked him if I could run up tonight and look at the car and he said sure. I haven't driven my SVT Focus that fast in a long time and a normal 40 minute trip took me 23 minutes! When I got there I saw the most beautiful SSGTi that I have ever seen because I knew then and there that she was mine. All's I had to do was talk to the owner. After the introductions, I started to ask the serious questions about if she ran and what generally was wrong with her. After all, the body had only scratches in the paint and no dents! The guy went and got the key and started her up right away! I heard a small belt squeel and he started saying that a mechanic had told him that it needed a new clutch and cv axle and so on and so forth and it would cost him an arm and a leg to fix. Looked the car over and she had just beauty wrinkles for a girl her age. Asked the poor guy what was the bottom line and he said $350!!!!!!! I've never parted with $350 so fast in my life. So, moral of the story is: Don't go out and buy a GS/GA and then buy a ton of clone crap to make a GT/GTi. Wait for the poor guy who gets rid of his 30 miles a day commuter car and buy it before he realizes you just stole it from him legally.

Man if I would of seen that Gti I would of been there real quick. I bought my 94 Gt off craigslist in washington for 250 all original but It needs a motor rebuild. Ive been wanting an 89 for a while now.

Gottsta outrun the SVT. I think she was just as excited to run as I was to see the GTi. The SVT has been stored for a year now since I was in Iraq, now she's uncaged. If you look at the one for sale in Reno, mine looks like that. I have looked the car over and she needs a cv axle on the passenger side and a new throwout bearing.

Beatswift: you are more than welcome. I would like to show off the collection. Was reading a thread about a meet somewhere in either northern WA or the Vancouver, BC area. Can't wait for that to happen wherever it happens. Maybe do a local Northwest run?

Update: 113,534 ORIGINAL MILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has everything all original to include the "Suzuki by KENWOOD" stereo. I received all the maintenance records for the car as well. I had to run back up to the guy to get him to sign the title in the right block and he said he found more paperwork for the car and he gave me the Original Paperwork from the dealership. He revised his commute by saying he drove the car 15 miles round trip 4 days a week to work. The main problems I'm finding are from not maintaining the car and from it not being driven like she was made for. I will take more pics of her tommorow. I will probably be busy putting new parts in her interior ie: Newly Upholstered CRX seats and my new carpet from ACC. I am going to transfer all items from the GTi to the GA. My new Pioneer is going in her and the stereo (OEM) will go in the GA.

I'm sneeking up on a rascally "vert right now. If I flinch she might run away. They are very hard to hunt. I have been stalking this one for at least three years and it looks like shes ripe for the pickin'. I've tried to coax her with promises of love, a wax job and new parts. I actually petted her once but she ran away soooooo fast. I know she's worth some money 'cause she's all there. If I play my card's right she will be the newest addition.

Got busy and put my front/rear turbine tech strut braces on. Also put the underbody brace on. I also found these at the local dealer:

They are a perfect fit. I will post pics soon. In the mean time see the pics of the braces. The GTi will soon be carving corners better than the SVT Focus.
