The previous owner had plasti-dipped the stock aluminum rims on my Swift and they were peeling like crazy. I'm almost at paint stage, just needs a little more removal of junk and polishing.

My car is matte black. I have some gunmetal rim paint already. I was thinking of doing like 1/3 of the spoke gold and the center/lip gunmetal. So when the car is moving it looks like there is a dislocation between the middle and outer rim.

This is the first time I have thought to do any sort of non-solid colored rim. I think this would not make the car look "ricer" but lets hear what you think.

Might look cool in motion. Not sure about standing still. Maybe post a photo shop pic of what you are thinking?

SO......what was used to strip and bring them back to(what looks like) bare aluminum?
I've a set I'd like to have aluminum finish(sealed) but there's been at least 2 coats of paint done to them and I fear I might need to blast them........

Elbow grease... and the right tools. I had an orbital sander that I used for the flatter surfaces (200 --> 400 grit). I also used a sandpaper wheel, and like 5 different wire wheels to get into all the nooks.

I finished them all up a couple weeks ago actually.
