Although the camera did have a macro mode, I found it flaky and got better results zooming in from a distance.

This pic was shot by disabling autofocus, then manually focusing. The part was illuminated with an LED flashlight:

This camera has a broken shutter button, the only way I can take pictures is to hold the remote infront of the camera, or do a live still capture at the computer.

You can also use a flatbed scanner for photography as well. Most scanners can get a clear image at least a 1/2" off the surface of the glass. Here's one I took:

Flatbed scanner have *insane* resolution (50 meg TIFF files no problem), but poor focal depth. For example I once took a scan with my GSM phone on the scanner, and in the scan, could see the gaps between the pixels on the phone's LCD screen, yet the detail of an ECU circuit board eluded the image sensor, due to the height of the ECU case.

just a question but can this same idea be used on a 4 cylinder head??

I don't know-
The big problems would be the type of head used, and locating the correct injectors.
Also the 4 cyl. intake manifold may need to be adapted / changed to fit the new fuel rail.

The factory G10 has the injector pads cast in, so the modification is made easier.

Ok I know you just started this project last month but any updates?

I see that you have used an 87t3 fuel rail, well we never got t3's here but it has got me thinking because I saw these V6 vitara/Escudo fuel rails and injectors for sale, I wonder how close they would fit???

The hardest part so far was finding the correct type/size of material for the fuel rail bracket.

Looking Good! looks like a Z shaped adapter to bolt the rail to the head??? and you found an alloy profile thats the right height??? if we still had karma then I'd dish some out in your direction...

Zee shape and zee size of zee material used to fabricate zee fuelrail bracket is a big zeecret.

Hello KoeGeo,

I am going to use an 01 1.3 16v Swift fuel pump.(originally used with these injectors)
The pump fits in the TBI geo mount and pre-filter sock perfectly.

Now I need to find another test car-the original had to be used in a "charity case" type deal 4 days ago.

not to beat you up here, but why not just use a t3 head/intake .. or if you want to go custom, use the intake from a triumph 955 (triple), some rubber hose pieces, and a chopped down stock manifold.

Hi n1tro,

I am trying to mod the stock TBI G10 (used in lots of cars) with common parts and tools, to make more power and better fuel mileage.
If / when it works, other members could use this information to upgrade their G10 engines with little trouble, other than the tooling required.
My plan is to find another donor car, have the exhaust done in 2" crush bent tubing, and dyno the stock TBI setup. Then I will change
the car over to MPFI, ( 5 min job) and dyno that setup. If everything looks good, one of Mike's cams and a +10 gear will be installed.

The first head is rebuilt stock, and I have another MPFI G10 head completed. (ported and milled for higher compression)
For the high preformance build, I am planning a SuzukiRD header, and a tuned intake (cut down from an 01 16v swift 4 cyl).

All this takes is money, and I'm spending as slow as I can.

i was looking at a t-3 head today and noticed the area inside the ports, around the injector hole, was blended back towards the valve. like the injector didnt go deep enough to get a good spray pattern without the blending.

so i wondered if you had done this or thought about it at all?

I think you are talking about the injector spray pattern hitting the sides of the injector pocket.
The next pics show how the jigs and dummy injectors are set up to align the injectors with the head.

Just a short update, today I bought a 1992 4 door metro, with a 3 cyl, auto and AC. (The Family Truckster)



This will be the G10 MPFI test car.

Cant wait to get a report!!!!

Not much of an update, Here is a pic of the new used engine--
Now I will pull the head, drill/cut the injector recesses and install it in the unsuspecting car...
I will also replace the torque converter seal on the transmission while it is accessable.

I was finally able to modify the used JDM head, using special low cost fixtures.

The head has the injector recesses cut and the inner hole is tapped for 1/8 pipe plugs,
if I want to sell the car without the MPFI injection.
