I am looking at wideband o2 sensors/controllers to make sure the new injectors don't run too lean or rich.
Then a new 2" exhaust will be put on the car. :)
Anybody found a good wideband o2 at reasonable price?

Hey 87, This thing runnin yet? Are you planning on using the tbi as additional fuel for boost along WITH the port injectors? Seems like there would be enough fuel there for much boost. Also, are you changing your fuel pump to a sprint turbo pump?

Hopefully 87t1 doesn't mind me commenting but he has had a few things going on in his private life so he hasn't done much with this project recently, it's on the back burner for a little while but he is going to continue with it as far as I'm aware.

The point of the project is to convert a non turbo head to multi point injection similar to the turbo head, there are few issues apparently with where the injectors spray into the head, no he won't need the original tb injector.
The aim is to see how the relocation of the fuel delivery point effects the hp, torque, engine response and fuel economy by using the same ECU.

I bought a 2A0 unit, works great! If you don't have much coin, get a JAW wideband. I'll be testing one out here in a little bit.

I'm looking at doing this mod. I have a lightly modified 1994 G10 with TBI. I hate to ask a stupid question, but...

I can get 1.3 injectors all day long, but how do I hook them up? I assume the three injectors will work, as has been done here. But there's a lot of info still missing here for us wanting to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, thanks for the write up,
Bradley

As a slightly related note, I've personally done a TBI to MPFI swap on a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L 4 cylinder. Instead of having to fabricate lots of parts, I just got them off of a newer MPFI car. However, I still used the stock TBI computer. At idle the car ran rich. At cruise though it ran great. According to Gtech, the swap increased hp from 92 hp to 108 hp. It also gave the car a wider power band.

In short, it did work and it really woke up that motor so I think it is definately possible for this to work for you. You might just want to get something to pull some fuel out while the car is at idle.

bump: been there, done that as of the last month.

It works. It works really, really good. So does the ram air. All the theoretical discussion is crap until you bolt it on and go driving in truly demanding circumstances.

Badbent, you're spot on. The mouth breathers are just making noise. I love your car. I hate my stock HVAC but I can't get myself to carve the hole in the roof (yet.....) It's just a matter of time before I get fed up and join you.....

thinking of doing this conversion the easy way. I know to get any power out of that motor the tbi will be useless. I aim to hit 100 whp when I am done (or more). what about a return line? is that necessary? it probably is in ontario for emissions purposes.

I wanna get a t3 head done up and swap out the computer, hook up the o2's and do up the rail. would I need a new sender? intake manifold? advice in this direction maybe? we all want the same thing.
