Our cars use "inserts" from Koni. Meaning you take your sealed shock and drill/punch a hole in it... let the oil out. Chop the top off. Put a bigger hole in the bottom of the original KYB strut, and bolt your Koni insert through the bottom. <br><br>You likely would have been better off doing this to your old strut. I haven't come accross a set of struts on a Swift that I could not do yet. <br><br>Perhaps they needed the dead ones for some Koni inserts on a friends GTi. Changing struts for koni insert is somewhat of a performance mods., which standard mechanics are very reticent to do on any car. Since the usual job require to change the whole strut assy, most mechanics will do so..regardless the will of the owner. I remeber ordering a set of CRX calipers and answering 'its for a swift GT' to the "which car it is?" question. The guy looked at me like if I was from Mars. Or the time I ordered a set of toyo 195/45R15 for my swift and the guy kept arguing with me saying "15 inches wheels doesn't fit on these cars!!"<br>Stupid..stupid people... he just lost a sale.<br>If you want my advice, alway stand on your position while discussing for a mechanic job...even if you are not sure but have the slightiest doubt about something, because customer come first! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br><br>Jar <p></p><i></i>

Some shop here wouldn't build me a 2.25-2.5" non-mandrel exhaust system because "I would blow out all my valves". <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :rolleyes --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> I made a mandrel system with Adam here easily enough... no burnt out exhaust valves in the past few years anyway.<br><br>------------<br><br>The sealed comment is dumb. All Swift ones are like that from the factory are they not? All it means is that they are not rebuildable from the factory and complete struts must be purchased to replace them. <br><br>However, that <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>does not</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> mean that you can't do what I described above and cut them apart to put your Koni Insert inside. In fact, if you are going to cut something apart, you likely want to do it on some old busted strut vs. something new. <br><br> As far as I know Koni does not make a rebuildable strut housing for our cars, so you have to either magically find non-oem struts that are rebuildable or do like most everybody else and do it the way I described. It is usually cheaper for the consumer to use their standard sealed struts, and it is cheaper for Koni which is why they build them as 'inserts'. If Koni themselves sends directions like that, there is certainly not a problem to start with a sealed strut. i did these recently for my tercel... i picked up a set of stock front struts at a junkyard, because i was told the KYB i had upgraded to earlier were gas charged... the stock struts are air/oil... i don't think you can drill the gas charged KYB's safely... it's an easy upgrade, though...<br> --- steven <p></p><i></i>

so i let the suzuki shop do the rear ones with konis. the shop told me the done hundereds on gtis.<br>i had this problem where when i went on bumpy spot the struts got stuck inside the housing and the springs got squashed. i drove it for 15 minutes like that and i had to drive 10kph and it still felt horobly bumpy<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :eek --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/eek.gif ALT=":eek"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> . lukily i lifted it up and one side went back but the other didn't so it wasn't too bad to drive. i took it back to the shop and they took them off and took of the paint at the top part where it goes inside the original housing. do you people always take off that paint so it doesn't get stuck or what?<br>thanks for the help <p></p><i></i>

a while back I posted about koni 25 way adjust shocks.<br><br>while playing the other day these race shocks are way larger then stock and there for won't fit in cut /moded housings.<br><br>but a a3 body vw <jetta golf> housings will work.<br><br>i will have foto's of this swap for the front on the suzukis soon . hopefully before knox.<br><br>my shocks are custom ordered with a 40 mm shorter bodies for lowered cars. valving for front drive road racing.<br><br>I can give part numbers for those interested parties. not cheap but i really hope worth the investment.<br>don't get me wrong my "phonis" were worth every penny<br><br><br>MURR <p></p><i>Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub83.ezboard.com/bteamswift.showUserPublicProfile?gid=murr@teamswift>MURR</A> at: 5/4/03 10:20:25 pm<br></i>

Murr,<br><br>Koni have 3 models of this shocks. Base on the info True Choice gave me the smaller ones will fit the stock GTi body, this are 8611-1257SPORT<br><br>Are this the ones you have? <br><br>Bolivar <p></p><i></i>
