yeah, I see that, I think I meant to say 185/60/r14 or something like that, but ended up looking at another number on the 1010tire website (were looking a 5 different size at the same time)... any way, the whole point of my thread was pretty much to see if I could do that without worrying about my fuel economy

edit: just found back the number for the 15'', it's 195/50/r15 that would be pretty much the same as stock, only a bit wider... now, if I fit 6'' wide wheels, do I really have to worry about rubbing?

195/45R15-Diameter Difference: 1.65%
185/50R14-Diameter Difference: 1.21%
As I understand it's OK?

No worries bud, you understand english way better than I would understand your native tongue. I understand a little bit of French but not much anymore unfortunately I don't think you can get a 185/50/14, well you can't over here but I'm not sure about overseas. You can get a 185/55/14 size here. The 195/45/15 is the best if you want to go with a 15" rim. What size rims are you wanting to run? You just need to stay within 3% to be as close to stock as possible. As far as offset goes, I believe you will want to stay as close to 40 as possible.

I just put a set of 17"core racing rims with 205/40/17 fedal tires
all i had to do was roll the lip up on the rear fenders, no problem with rubbing

185/70-14

I've had 185/70-14s on and it was quite drivable but the front would definitely rub at 80% lock (or so). That's a little more than 13% overdrive from stock.

Not sure if it saved gas, but I got the same distance per tank with the 155/80-13 as indicated on the odometer.

The wheels/tires were off a 94 Honda Accord. Bolted up just nice.

But your speedo would have been off by 13%, so you did get better MPG.

Just upgraded from stock 12-inch wheels/tires to 14x6 alloy Sport Edition D3s (+38mm offset, 4x114.3mm bolt pattern) and 185/60HR14 Bridgestone Potenza G009s.

Fit well and look good under the wheel well. Only rubbed once on an exit ramp, tight right turn with moderate hard downhill braking. Otherwise normal driving is great, and no rubbing on heavy bumps or dips.

Only had them on for two weeks now, with two days driving in the rain, but the traction and wet driving are excellent compared to the 12-inch setup.

The tire/wheel source was Tirerack.com, referenced as a 86' Mazda 323 to find the correct wheel and tire combination to fit my 89' Geo Metro. 'America's Tire Company' ordered the wheels/tires for me on a $25 deposit, received order in two days, and did an excellent install with full road hazard protection and warranty for $800 total.

being a tireguy ive tried quite a few different ones ... personally pirelli is wayyyy to expensive n quite the head ache to balance n horrible ride.. b.f.goodrich traction t/a's are very good in the wet .. but dry they are very noisy...a good buy if ya dont mind the noise...on my current ride which is a 86 nova with a few mods .. im running falken ze 512's in 195/50 15 on ronal turbine rims... standing water .. excellent ... dry .. i can fly thru most corners at full throttle in 5th gear .. no squeal n no drama just grip n speed.. the noise factor is minimal at best .. the ride tho is kinda bumpy hence 40 psi ... ive got approx 40.000 km on em n they still look new .. rotations every 5.000km ...but the nova will be retired soon as i find a good suzuki or firefly to replace it with ....

Just wondering but on that 1010tires.com calculator is says that anything over a 3% change in circumference could lead to break failure.

The stock on my 1995 Suzuki Swift is supposively 155/80R13 and im looking to buy some alloys, well i've been looking for a couple of months now, just always seem to be spending my money on other things rather than saving up for some alloys although i have been to many places around my local area enquiring about them.

I want to do a simple switch, no modifications or anything if i can help it, i doubt id know where to start if i got some rubbing anywhere.

Most people i've spoke to recommend i get a 195/45/R15 which is what ive been after, but looking at that site it says its a 3.78% difference to the stock wheels, not that i really mind, i wacked some low profile tyres on the stock wheels as soon as i bought the swift and it currently has over a 5% difference

I was wondering waht you guys think would be best to get. i've been thinking about going for a 195/45/15 or a 195/50/15 but im not sure how performance would be altered. I've heard of people going for like 205/40/16 but im not sure with the large width it would cause any rubbing anywhere, affect performace or just be overkill on my swift.

I've also noticed a lot of people opt for 14" rims for performance? would this be better than going for a 15"?

I'm not after by any means a track car, but any extra performance would be a bonus, but more after the look and pimp factor if anything, imo alloys really do make the car over all and does make cars stand out.

i could post a pic i have of my swift and you can see the _huge_ gaps in the wheel arches, looks kinda silly with the GTi body kit (despite only having a 1.3 GS SE) but i thought i'd ask what you guys would recommend although i think the 195/45/15 would be the safest option

i used to work for em its actually volco tire . 3 locations spent almost 9 years with them.. n no it wont cause a brake failure .. just may take a few more feet to stop ur ride.. n speedo may be out a few clicks or miles...if ya plan on using 14s ther r lots of good tires available out there

I got now 185/50R14 Dunlop SP tyres on stock 5J GTI rims....
These have absolutely no grip XD



Soon I need others, but what size will look the best on the car? And what size will fit the 5J rims without problems?

it's just that it's gonna be too high for the sidewall right? isn't ? i would prefer the 195/45/15.........but the michelin pilot exalto is too expensive! any other alternatives?

and what's the correct offset for a 14'' or 15" that would give no rub on fender/suspension with fender flushed?

I have a set of 15" accord wheels and I got offered a set of 205-50-r15's.

They are going to set the speedo back by about 6% too slow and I figure they may rub so i'll have to roll the fenders.

Has anyone run something like this before? On a MRK 1? Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

I'm having trouble locating anything in the states! If i do fid the size, which i have found only one close-they are basically sport tires for handling. I'm looking for just something to replace my 12's but keep the speedo accurate. in order of preference: 165/55r14, 155/65r13, 175/60r13.
Anyone around here have something like that?! Something that actually has high treadwear life...?

I'm getting a set of Falken Ziex ZE912 185/60R14 which is as close to the stock tire as I can manage. They also have an 80,000mi treadwear warranty, and seem to be a very well reviewed tire and outperform more expensive rubber.

In Canada from a shop not known for cheap prices I'm looking at $455.

I got 18MPG in a 3cyl with a 5 speed manual 4dr, '93 Metro!

Boy, i never thought it would be so hard to locate a 13 or 14" tire! Maybe i'll just get the 95+ trans and put that in with the factory 13's. Then my speedo will still be the same, i just won't have a wider comparable tire for later on in the car's life if i would ever go that route for performance/handling.

I've got a set of stock 12's on my 92 Geo Metro. I can't find tires to fit this car anywhere. And I'll admit I'm tire dumb, but I love the gas mileage I get from my car and it's a blast to drive. I don't wanna convert or change parts on my metro, I wouldn't know what to do if the tires started rubbing. How big of a rim and what tire size do I need to consider buying? Gas mileage isn't really an issue, I work in the oil field. If I lose some, it's still better than most small cars or pickups. I have located some tires, but the guy said this would be the last set he could get for me, they aren't making the 12's anymore. This kinda of urgent, he wants an answer by tomorrow. If figure I might as well upgrade to a different tire now that will be more readily available later. Thanx for any help.

I just bought 4 new 12" tires from Discount tires in Madison WI. They where $48 a piece expensive bastards I tell yeah. Amazingly they where Kumho's! so I was pleasantly surprised to see that. They have branches all over the conuntry try them. They have 3 offices in Texas!

hello everybody,
i'm from egypt and i have 1991 swift 5dr used to be 1.0 but thanks to teamswift and all of you guyes, it's now 1.3DOHC with GTI spolier, bumpers, seats, fog lights, steering wheel, tramnsmition and dash. (i'll drop some pics when i finish polishing it). really really THANK YOU TEAMSWIFT.
BUT,,,,, now i only have one problem, my current setup is the original 155/70 R13 on the original alloys, i want to go for rims and tires, i've been reading throw all posts, but i coulden't find what i'm looking for. which is, i want to install R15s with 195/50R15 on them, i can't find 195/45 here in egypt. and the popular brand will be MAXXIS vectra m1 tires (i've seen no one having them here)
but i'm worried about rubbing, comfort, milage and acceleration( i have stock suspension from the 1.0). so please please gyues, give me some tips. i posted here a pic of my original R13 alloys .thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

I just bought some MB Seven X Wheels 15x6.5". But I am unsure of what tire size I should get that would have the same or close to the rotation speed as my stock 155/70R13 tires.
I dont want my speedo to be off by any if possible.
What do you guys suggest?Thanx

You should be able to go up to a 23" diameter tire with no problems. I am running a 23.4" (195/55-15) and sometimes get a bit of rubbing at full lock on the front, and some fender lip rubbing when going over big bumps (mostly the rear fenders).

I have driven with 24.2" tires (185/70-14) which would rub worse at full lock up front but no problems with the rear fenders.

I would say the best options (choice, availability, price) would be in the 14" wheel size, but for 15" I would say 195/50-15 is your best bet.

Here are some diameter comparisons:

155/70R13 = 21.5" (stock)
155/80R13 = 22.8" (best econo tire ever!?)

165/50R15 = 21.5" (does this exist?)

175/65R15 = 24" (rare)

185/55R15 = 23.0 (rare)
185/60R15 = 23.7
185/65R15 = 24.5 (very common)

195/45R15 = 21.9" (rare)
195/50R15 = 22.7"
195/55R15 = 23.4"
